At Oxford Aunts (OA), we’re all about providing the very best home care to those who need it, and we know that starts with finding the right people.
That’s where our experienced recruitment team comes in! We’re excited to introduce you to the friendly faces who are here to help you kickstart a fulfilling career in care. Vicki and Marie work hand in hand recruiting both live-in and hourly carers in and around Oxford.
Tell us about yourself Vicki?
“I have three children and two dogs, so I always have my hands full, but I love to be busy all of the time. I joined the OA team in December 2022. Firstly within the client services team but moved over to the recruitment team the following year”.
What attracted you to OA?
“I discovered how important it was for clients to stay living in their own homes after being a carer in a nursing home myself. The recurring message from all of the residents there was how much they wanted to be at home, so I wanted to be part of making that possible for people going forward.”
Besides specific job requirements, what qualities do you look for when speaking to carers?
“The most important thing for me is the genuine desire and passion to care for people. It is something you have naturally and I hear this when candidates talk about the work they do”.
What is your top tip for candidates applying to work at Oxford Aunts?
“We’re looking for motivation, for the role and the clients that need care. Express the drive to empower our clients and the passion for putting them at the centre of what you do; that’s what I am looking for. Also a smile goes a really long way!”
Tell us about yourself Marie?
“I live near Woodstock in Oxfordshire and have previously worked for the NHS and a charity for adults with Learning Disabilities. I joined OA in November 2023 and have felt included and part of the team from day one!”
What attracted you to OA?
“Being local, I had heard of OA as they have a really good reputation in the Oxfordshire area. I was excited to join a company who have been established since the 1960s and who give a high standard of care.”
Besides specific job requirements, what qualities do you look for when speaking to carers?
“I’m looking for carers with the same values and beliefs as OA, enthusiasm for the role and an understanding of the care they will be providing.”
What is your top tip for candidates applying to work at Oxford Aunts?
“As we interview you via video, it’s good to think about the environment that you are in. Avoid noisy backgrounds so that the interviewer can hear you clearly. If you’re unsure of a question, please always ask for it to be expanded on and give examples where possible.”
