Hourly care – Introducing Enya

“The in-house training was comprehensive and engaging, providing me with knowledge far beyond my expectations.”

At Oxford Aunts (OA), we have an ever growing team of hourly carers working in and around their local areas, providing exceptional  in-home care. They visit clients who require additional support with aspects of their day-to-day life, as well as providing companionship.

Today, we’re excited to introduce Enya, one of our compassionate and skilled hourly carers. She plays a vital role in helping clients maintain independence and comfort in their own homes. Keep reading to get to know more about Enya and her journey as a member of the Oxford Aunts team.

Tell us about your journey in care so far?

“My career in care has been a journey of growth and learning. I began my career in care when I returned to Oxford to complete my studies in Human Nutrition. At the time, I never envisioned a career in the care sector, but by chance, I found my first position and after a few months decided to apply for a role with Oxford Aunts as I felt like I could make an even bigger difference to my clients, so I joined OA back in March 24.”

What do you enjoy about working within the OA hourly team?

“Working in hourly care, I meet a diverse range of people with varying needs, pushing me to continually expand my knowledge to provide the highest level of care. Each day brings new experiences, whether it’s offering companionship and hearing someone’s life story, or providing end-of-life care to ensure comfort in their final stages of their life.”

“The connections I form with the people I care for are deeply meaningful, and the opportunity to be welcomed into someone’s home and hear their stories is truly special.”

What is the support like from the hourly team?

“The hourly care team has evolved significantly over time, with new members joining regularly and the client base growing. However, there is always a sense of camaraderie, knowing that help is never far away. OA has allowed me to expand my learning and pursue additional training, and I’m excited to have recently stepped into a new role!”

“The interview with Marie was both friendly and thorough, ensuring that I was the right fit for the team. The in-house training was engaging, providing me with knowledge far beyond my expectations. This high level of preparation made me feel confident and ready as I began my role. The carers I shadowed were all welcoming and supportive. As the company expanded and my degree concluded, I transitioned to full-time hours, which allowed me to take on more responsibility and form lasting relationships with my regular clients. For some of them, my visits are the highlight of their week.

Last year, I applied for and was appointed to the role of Senior Carer. I have since received additional training and am gradually stepping into this new responsibility. My experience with Oxford Aunts has been both rewarding and emotional, and it has deepened my respect for both the healthcare professionals I work alongside and the clients we serve.”

The OA hourly care team continues to grow in 2025 and we want to support you and meet your needs. At Oxford Aunts, we take care of everything so you can take care of your clients.
